Dr. David A. Fernandez is a Florida Supreme Court-certified family mediator and certified divorce coach whose work integrates psychological, legal, and financial theories to help individuals and families navigate life’s most difficult transitions, especially divorce and high-conflict relationships.
As the founder of VCR Mediation and Counseling, Dr. Fernandez brings a rare blend of qualifications to the table: a doctorate in psychology, a law degree, national certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor®, and lived experience as a military service member. This unique background allows him to support clients holistically because he blends evidence-based approaches to help clients navigate conflict, obstacles, and unfamiliarity with the legal process of divorce.
As a proud U.S. Navy veteran, Dr. Fernandez focuses on providing services particularly for those in the military and veteran communities. Whether it is coaching military spouses during deployments, helping service members financially plan for extended absences and life after service, or even helping military couples navigate the nuances of military separation and effects on their benefits and co-parenting, Dr. Fernandez brings real-life experience to his coaching.
Dr. Fernandez is also fluent in Spanish, and he provides services to the Latin American community in need of services in their language. He can help immigrant communities unfamiliar with American jurisprudence adhere to court mandates when it comes to divorce and parenting agreements. He serves a diverse client base with cultural sensitivity and clarity.
Whether helping divorcing couples reach amicable resolutions through mediation, coaching individuals through high-conflict separations, or guiding families through financial planning during divorce, Dr. Fernandez focuses on sustainable outcomes grounded in respect, empathy, and practical tools.
In his spare time, Dr. Fernandez enjoys writing, watching his kids in sports and theater, Yoga, spending time with his wife, and taking their puppy out for log-walks.
